About Jeanette

I was born in Banbury in 1968.  Not long after I was born, I was adopted by two wonderful people my mum and dad, Ruth and Bill Martell and lived for a while in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire.  When I was about 4 years old we moved to Orpington and that is where I still currently live.  My parents are still in the same house.  I went to Midfield Primary School, (where I ended up working for 14 years and my children also attended).  I went to Walsingham Comprehensive.   I am in a long term relationship and have three children.

I am employed as a Senior Therapeutic Practitioner from Orpington in Kent, England, currently employed with (information on request).

Working with Looked-After Children who are in need of specialist care.  Providing a secure, homely environment with as much normality as possible for young people who have experienced abuse, neglect and traumatic relationships or for young people who are in need of specialist residential care.  I strive for the young people I work alongside to have access to the right programmes to enhance the delivery of psychological well-being Assessment service thereby offering a needs-led placement programme with endless choices during the long term care planning process.

I have completed several a credited courses in childcare and this year I achieved a NVQ qualification in Leadership and management.  I would like to be able to manage my own home for children with learning difficulties.  At this present time I'm just waiting to start, in early July, a credited course in becoming a NVQ assessor.  I think this will be a great way to be able to share my knowledge and understanding of children within in the care setting and hopefully help others to gain a qualification in this hard but rewarding career.
